New Expensive Equipment Consideration for Angiographic Laboratories

Abstract
Recent technologic advances in angiographic equipment have added to its versatility but have also increased its cost and complexity. Serious consideration should be done either on the advantages or disadvantages of new factors of newly introduced equipment, whether one is contemplating the installation of a new equipment, or the renovation of an existing angiography room, or simply the replacement of various component.
Because there were sudden increases of the angiographic equipments in Korea, especially in hospitals located in other than Seoul area, and that, all angiographic equipments have to be imported, this consideration is more important.
For cardiovascular, coronary and interventional procedure, biplane, magnification and multiangulation capabilities of angiographic equipments are all desirable. In small general hospitals, however, new equipment for angiography should be selected according to volume of angiographic case load and type of angiography to be done.
To decrease power requirement, rare-earth screen film system and carbon fiber angiographic table are recommendable.
To decrease of wasting time of expensive equipment, it have to be studied to share generator or other basic equipment with general purpose radiographic unit.
